Crested Polish chickens are petite, sweet, and docile. They are primarily ornamental/pet chickens. When my children were young the Crested Polish were their favorites.
They regularly produce small white eggs. They are easily startled due to their feathers blocking thier eyesight. It is best to keep them in an area that is protected from predators.
The Polish Crested breed is not Polish at all. They were named for their resemblance to the Polish army's feather crested caps. They are actually from Spain. When they were brought to Holland the Dutch bred them to standardize their coloring. They started appearing in America around the 1830s.
